Frequently Asked Questions
Which night tour in La Fortuna is best?
For most visitors, Ecocentro Danaus at 5:30 PM — highest wildlife success rate, easiest trails, and great for families. Serious photographers should choose the 8:00 PM slot at Danaus or the private tour at Papa's Place.
Are night tours safe in La Fortuna?
Yes. All reserves have wide, cleared, guided trails with red-light headlamps. Guides are trained in venomous snake identification and behavior. Wear closed shoes and long pants.
What time do night tours start?
Two standard departures: 5:30 PM (transitioning dusk, best for families) and 8:00 PM (full night, better for photography and mature frog activity). Both tours run about 2 hours.
Can kids do the night tour?
Yes — from age 5 with an adult. Danaus has flat boardwalks ideal for kids. Guides use red-light headlamps that don't scare wildlife and keep pace kid-appropriate.
Do I need to book in advance?
